Senior Electrical Engineer Job Description
Responsible for technical oversight and leadership for product design and development activities that result in the launch of new products that meet defined business needs. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, the candidate will develop design strategies and robust product architectures for complex radar and control systems. Facilitate cross-functional team interactions and collaborative design within a multi-discipline environment that includes marketing, engineering, operations, safety, regulatory, and QA.
Technical Leadership
- Leads establishment of design requirements and project planning for electronics portions of design
- Leads system and subsystem level electronics design activities and design reviews
- Supports manufacturing in the design, development and validation of test fixtures and methods used in production
- Participates in cross-functional meetings to review designs, project schedules and goals, manufacturing, or quality related issues
- Communicates with and guides third party contractors in development activities, especially including PCB layout and embedded software
- Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software to generate designs and manufacturing documentation
- Analyzes existing designs to identify root causes of failures and to suggest changes to improve design reliability or manufacturing processes
- Participates in design verification and validation process, plans and leads electrical compliance testing
- Develop and/or review detailed design analyses such as circuit simulations, component selection, and tolerance stack-ups
- Capture and manage requirements, analyze, design, test, troubleshoot, and document electronics hardware of moderate to high complexity and contribute to Systems integration
- Participate in the design verification and validation process, planning and leading performance testing
- Act as a mentor to junior engineers in Electrical Engineering areas
Critical Skills Required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities to scheduled goals
- Ability to design and analyze digital and analog circuits, subsystems and systems
- Knowledge of embedded system and sensor driven control systems mandatory
- Software programming and / or MATLAB skills a plus
- Knowledge of PCB layout design rules
- Familiarity with the RF design is a plus
- Ability to specify and use laboratory equipment for electronics measurement.
- Knowledge of electrical safety, and EMI/EMC standards a plus
- Able to use Computer Aided Design
- Demonstrated working knowledge of tools and instruments utilized in electrical device design and prototyping
- Communicate expectations for design outputs, timelines, and accountability to project team members with subsequent follow-up
- Prepare and present technical overviews of product design details to management personnel
- Maintain an up to date awareness of customer needs, competitor activity and new technologies to provide input for competitive strategy that maximizes future profit for new and existing products

Computer Skills

Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering required, Masters degree desired
- Minimum 10 years of electrical design, test and integration experience.
